Our cottage and the local area.

Here we present our two bedroom holiday cottage which sleeps 4 people (plus we have a travel cot available for a smaller extra guest). We welcome up to three dogs and have a large enclosed private garden with raised terrace area and parking available.

Stony Broke Cottage is situated in the small village of Ainthorpe near Danby on the North York Moors. It is within the North York Moors Moors National Park which is named as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).  We have some of the most breath taking scenery and fantastic coastline.

The North York Moors National Park Centre (Danby Lodge) is a 10 minute walk away and has a wealth of tourist information. They also house a cafe, an art gallery, and indoor and outdoor children’s play areas - www.northyorkmoors.org.uk

Two public houses serving great food, a bakery/cafe and a health shop are within walking distance of the cottage - the bakery also serves take away pizzas on a weekend evening. There are also two further public houses, a village store and a local Co-op supermarket in the next village, Castleton, only 1.5 miles away. Danby train station is also within walking distance where you can catch a direct train to Whitby. The fish and chip van visits Danby every Tuesday and Friday.

In the summer, the Moorsbus runs to nearby towns and villages including Helmsley within the National Park.  Whitby is 16 miles away and the bustling market town of Guisborough is 11 miles away.  The fishing village of Staithes and the Victorian coastal town of Saltburn are approximately 11 miles away and both of which have child/dog friendly beaches - https://www.moorsbus.org/

From the doorstep of Stony Broke Cottage, there are several picturesque walks to take of varying lengths and the cottage is close enough to pick up The Cleveland Way route and the Esk Valley Walk.

And remember, most of the local pubs, restaurants and shops are dog friendly here.
